In close consultation with the Parks Department, The Natural Areas Conservancy has developed a long-term plan for the care of the city’s forests. It is the first citywide vision for what the organization calls a “critical piece of infrastructure” in our urban environment.
The 25- year plan includes the process, costs, steps, recommendations, best practices, and goals for forest management, including recommendations for climate-adapted tree species that are most resilient under warmer, dryer conditions.
The conservancy is eager to share this plan with to other cities as well.
