The 4th New York City Climate Justice Youth Summit will be taking place in Manhattan on August 6th and 7th.

Uprose, an environmental justice organization in Brooklyn, describes why the Summit has been organized:

“Why should you join us- because Katrina, Sandy, droughts in the West Coast and tornadoes in Brooklyn are reminders climate change is already here and it is already having a devastating impact on our communities and the global south and we may be the first and last generation able to do something about it!

This year’s NYC Climate Justice Youth Summit is a Call to Action. We hope you will join us to learn about the connection between fossil fuel extraction and climate justice and how we can inter-generationally build climate adaptable and resilient communities while also building climate justice consciousness.”

The Summit will be held at the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers at 145 W. 84th St, Manhattan.

It is one of the many events leading up to the U.N. International Climate Summit in New York City this September.
